Our Story
From Backyard Jumps to World‑Class Trails
As kids, we started building jumps and riding bikes together. To get where we wanted to go, we had to build our own progression. With limited access, we grabbed shovels and started moving dirt. That hands-on, figure-it-out mindset still defines us today.
What began with borrowed tools grew into a tight-knit riding community known as the “Shire Trails”. After years of digging, rebuilding, and progressing side by side, it became clear we’d built something special, and in 2019 we officially became Shire Built.
Today, we partner with municipalities, parks departments, ski resorts, private landowners, HOAs, and recreation managers to design and construct downhill trails, public bike parks, dirt jumps and large-scale pump tracks.
We’re excited to bring a lifetime of riding, over 15 years of professional civil construction, and more than 30 years of combined trail‑building experience to every project, creating safe, sustainable trail systems that riders love and communities trust.

Project Manager | Machine Operator
Spencer is the owner and CEO of Shire Built bringing 20+ years of background in civil construction, working with suppliers, subcontractors, utility companies, municipalities, etc. This combined with a lifetime of riding mountain and BMX bikes at a pro level gives him the ability to build unique trails, features, and jumps, all while understanding the complex nuances of project management. It is through his leadership and direction that Shire Built has emerged as Washington’s premier bike park and pump track contractor.

Scott is a professional BMX rider and mountain biker with 20+ years of industry experience. He is now the QCM at ShireBuilt using his vast background in trail building and maintenance to help the team create complex and smooth flowing designs that all skill levels of riders can appreciate. For Scott, the details matter, which is why he provides final sign off on all of our projects. His pride of work shines through with every shape we create.

Matt is a professional mountain biker, videographer, event promoter and trail builder with over 15 years of experience in the industry. With a background rooted in downhill racing he brings an athletes perspective to the team of already diverse builders. He is also our industry insider with Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance where he plays an integral role in trail system development as lead designer and project developer.
