The Pacific Northwest’s Premier Bike Trail Builder

We build world‑class trails and pump tracks for every rider, from first‑timers to pros.

Build. Ride. Connect. Repeat.

Shire Built started in 2019, but the crew behind it has been digging and building for decades. We’ve got over 30 years of combined experience, including 15 years in public works and civil construction, and a deep background in mountain bike racing, freeride, and BMX.

Based in Bellingham, Washington—home to Galbraith and one of North America’s best‑known mountain bike scenes—we bring a rider’s eye and a builder’s brain to projects across the U.S. and Canada. We work with cities, towns, ski hills, and state parks to create safe, sustainable singletracks, jump lines, pump tracks, and full‑on bike parks from first idea to final lap.

A Few Miles Of Trail, A Big Impact on Community

  • A Couple of Laps, A Lot More Health

Pump tracks and well‑built trails make it easy to get out and ride instead of just thinking about it. They boost regular, higher‑intensity activity for people living nearby, and in Washington every dollar invested in trails has been linked to nearly three dollars in healthcare savings. Thoughtful design and construction are what turn those investments into smooth, fun laps that people actually use—and that’s exactly what we do.

  • Trails Turn Strangers Into Friends

Good trail builders don’t just shape dirt; they shape gathering places. Trails and pump tracks are simple ‘show up and ride’ spots where kids, teens, and adults can roll in and start riding. A simple, modular track can log over 3,000 laps a day, turning quick sessions into everyday connections and a stronger sense of belonging. We design every project with that kind of community impact in mind.

  • Trail Networks Help Local Economies

Well‑designed trail networks keep local businesses busy. Outdoor recreation in Whatcom County generates hundreds of millions of dollars in annual spending and overall economic impact, with visitors coming to Bellingham specifically to ride world‑class trails. When builders create durable, ride‑all‑season trail systems, they help drive repeat visits, full parking lots, and steady business for shops, restaurants, lodging and more.

  • Create Generational Memories

When parks and trails get upgraded, the impact lasts for years, not just one season. In Bellingham, we’ve helped shape some of the 65 miles of trail on Galbraith and turned empty waterfront space into an affordable riding area. As builders, we’re not just moving dirt—we’re creating safe, sustainable places where kids, parents, grandparents, and visitors from all over the country can ride together.

  • "There are a few important aspects to building and designing a good trail or pump track that the Shire Built crew has displayed over the years. Their big picture view allows them the ability to accommodate all riding levels. Utilizing feedback to adapt throughout the building process. They are proficient machine operators with high level riding capability that allow them to “fail fast” and make corrections quickly. We have full confidence in the Shire crews trail building skills and level of execution."

  • "Our project was unique and very specific as we were designing within the boundaries of 4 walls, Shire Built’s ability to follow my plan closely and keep to the design was critical. Spencer is by far the best operator I have ever worked with and is a talented builder. It helps to have very talented riders, so they knows what works well for a bike, in addition to having an open-minded vision, so they design and create for all levels of riders."
